Square Enix has officially announced that Final Fantasy XVI, the latest installment in the iconic JRPG series, is making its way to PC on September 17, 2024. Fans of the franchise can look forward to experiencing the game on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, with pre-orders already open.
The PC release will be a Complete Edition, bundling the base game with two exciting DLCs: “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide”. This release is highly anticipated, as it marks the first time the game will be available on platforms outside of PlayStation 5, where it originally launched in June 2023.
To give players a taste of what’s to come, Square Enix has also released a free demo available for download on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Players can dive into the world of Valisthea, explore the dark fantasy setting, and get a feel for the epic narrative that centers around Clive Rosfield and his quest for revenge against the Dark Eikon Ifrit.
Final Fantasy XVI has been praised for its rich storytelling, dynamic combat system, and stunning visuals, making it one of the most celebrated titles in the series to date. With the PC release, even more players will have the chance to experience the game’s immersive world and compelling characters.
Square Enix describes the game as follows:
“An epic dark fantasy world where the fate of the land is decided by the mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them. This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title ‘First Shield of Rosaria’ and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the dominant of the Phoenix. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.”
