One Piece Anime to Take a break, Remastered Fish-Man Island Saga to Take Its Place

In a recent announcement from Toei Animation, it was revealed that the One Piece anime will take a six-month break starting on October 13, 2024, with new episodes set to resume in April 2025. During this hiatus, fans can look forward to a fully remastered version of the beloved Fish-Man Island Saga. This hiatus follows the release of Episode 1122, which marks the temporary conclusion of the current episodes.

Remastered Fish-Man Island Saga Details

From October 27, 2024, to March 30, 2025, One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga will bring a fresh experience to fans of the original arc, which first aired in 2011 and 2012. The re-edited version will span 21 episodes, with each new episode airing weekly. This update includes completely re-shot scenes, new animation sequences, and high-quality Dolby Atmos sound.

This enhanced version will also feature updated opening and ending themes:

  • Opening Theme: We Go! by Kitadani Hiroshi with “special guest” artists
  • Ending Theme: Sailing (Episodic Version) by the popular Japanese group BE

With a more modern animation style, the remastered Fish-Man Island Saga will offer long-time fans and newcomers an exciting new way to experience this important arc.

Special 25th Anniversary Episode

To celebrate One Piece‘s 25th anniversary, Toei Animation will also release a special episode titled One Piece Fan Letter on October 20, 2024. This 30-minute episode takes place on Sabaody Archipelago after the Paramount War, showcasing a story from the perspective of a young girl who admires Nami and dreams of an adventure of her own. The episode brings a unique viewpoint as non-pirate characters reunite with the Straw Hats crew.

What Fans Can Expect

The return of One Piece in April 2025 will resume the current Egghead Arc, with exciting plotlines and character developments that fans are eagerly awaiting. This temporary pause allows the anime team to enhance the upcoming episodes, ensuring a high-quality experience as One Piece continues into its final saga.
